350 Transmission – Everything You Need to Know

TH350 or Turbo Hydramatic 350 is highly regarded among auto fanatics as the best three-speed automatic transmission created. Dating back to the year 1969, it was considered as a replacement for the Powerglide transmission. That is why this rebuilt 350 transmission is deemed to have a solid balance of strength and size. It is easily able to fit in smaller vehicles. Suppose you are indeed looking for a slight indication about how automotive technology has changed. In that case, one obvious way to observe it is to count the number of forwarding gears in automatic transmission. GM first introduced Powerglide back in the early 1950and had only two forward gears. The scenario, now, is such that GM’s latest technology has now pushed ten forward speeds. Fantastic right?

The turbo 350 got a lot of positive exposure in rear-wheel vehicles, both cars, and trucks. This turbo 350 engine worked quite well in a jeep because of its power. Many auto mechanics also looked at Turbo 350 as a three-speed Powerglide, which tends to make sense because it was derived from the Powerglide. The very defining characteristic of the Turbo 350, at least compared to the 400, is that the 350 does not have much. This might seem like a drawback at first, but this came out to be a benefit as it allowed the 350 to be placed into the Corvair model.

Features:

• Transmission and motors are paired together, similar to motherboards and computer processors. So, the stronger the engine, the stronger the transmission will be.

• Another upgrade that could be added to it was the new shift improver kit. They can help in reducing the wear on your clutch and provide faster and smoother shifts. You could also be able to fit a more robust torque converter if required to match the power figures of the vehicle.

The standard Turbo 350 could easily be paired with Chevrolet small and large block engines, either V6 or V8. In fact, you can also pair it with the I6. Eventually, if you look to taste both worlds, you could get the TH350C because of its compatibility area, which is more extensive.
