The 4R70W transmission had some of the best qualities of a transmission. However, it equally had some cons as well. 


The Pros: 

The biggest pros of 4R70W were the improved overdrive band. Similarly, it was highly compatible with a lot of Ford vehicles without needing much work or modifications. Additionally, it was able to easily fit into many older vehicles, giving the same power and efficiency. 


The Cons: 

Overloading this transmission wasn’t allowed. This was because there was a limiter to its torque and doing it on purpose would have a detrimental effect on the transmission. If the above con would always be kept in mind, you’ll have a powerful transmission that will last a long time.
